Mijn eerste Zeepaardje.

Al vele jaren bij Wannadive op Bonaire komend en ook veel in andere landen gedoken te hebben, heb ik al veel van het mooie onderwaterleven gezien.

Maar toch een Zeepaardje had ik nog nooit gezien, terwijl er bij ons op de duikvereninging mensen zijn die voor het eerst op Bonaire komen ze wel zien. Je begrijpt dat dit voor mij behoorlijk frusterend was en ik hiermee dan ook regelmatig door de mensen mee geconfronteerd werd.

Maar daar is nu een eind aangekomen meegaand met de bootduik van Wannadive naar Klein Bonaire verelde Emma de gids dat we naar een stek gingen waar ze gezien waren.

Wel op de stek ik dacht dat hij Nerast Piont heette aangekomen en door Emma gebrieft te zijn geworden over de stek , was het overboord.

Volgens de info moest er op een diepte van 8,5 meter na een tweede zandkom gezocht te worden, wel op de heenweg zoeken zoeken en nog eens zoeken maar geen zeepaardje dus ik denk bij me eigen het zal toch niet. Maar op de terugweg ineens kwam Emma naar me toe hij was gespot, en ja hoor een hele mooie zwarte van ongeveer 6 tot 7 cm lang.

Dus werden er een hoop foto,s gemaakt, hierna weer rustig terug naar de boot, waar we werden nogmaals verrast op een prachtige Frog Fish dit is de tweede maal in mijn leven dat ik er een gezien heb.

Onder het genot van de traditionele Wannadive lolly op de terug reis kon ik in ieder geval terug kijken op weer een mooie bootduik.

Carlos Coste back at Eden Beach and Wannadive

In the last week of February 2012, Carlos Coste (www.carloscoste.com) came back to Bonaire to conduct another seminar in Freediving. This time Carlos educated beginners and advanced free divers with new techniques.

Following the success of this seminar and strong demand Carlos will be back this April he will conduct another seminar also for beginners and advanced freedivers.

Carlos is from Venezuela and considers Bonaire his second home. Carlos Coste, Wannadive Bonaire, and Eden Beach Resort on Bonaire, will host this fascinating event.

In his discipline Carlos is world record holder going down as far as 117 meters!

Below you can find a compilation video about freediving and Carlos courses. There is a lot of attention to Yoga, meditation and breathing techniques. The in water training is in the swimming pool and in confined water. After that there are, of course, the open water training dives, from a platform in front of the resort. After successfully participation of the seminar, the students are certified by Carlos as a AIDA, the Apnea Academy of Freediving Instructors freediver.

Wannadive Bonaire is assisting Carlos with the ‘set-up’ and logistics like maintenance of the buoy lines, positioning the platform, if necessary equipment and the boat.

A Happy Bubblemaker

Bob did 2 Bubblemakers with Seán … he loved it.

His dad sent us an e-mail and told us about how exiting he was and that he showed all his pictures and videos to his classmates the first day he was back at school. Thanks for sharing Marcel !

We wanted to share this with all of you. Check it out !

The highlight earlier this week was the find of “OctoPatty” I thought Patrick’s octopus at Eden Beach was pretty cool but OctoPatty topped it. Patrick’s octopus was large and out moving around, changing shapes and colors but Patty found cutest little octopus in front of our condo. The body of this this guy was about 2″ (6cm) long and he kept raising up trying to convince us he was a big bad octopus. I have know idea how Patty spotted him but it was way cool.

I would give you another tease from this morning’s dive but I can’t wait. We dove with dolphins. Mirjam spotted them as we were going into the water and we were fortunate enough to get out to them before they passed by. Not sure how many there were, there were several waves, but I didn’t realize there were 5 in this picture until we got home and put them on the computer.
